Following Christ is worth it because God rewards us with many advantages now and will one day give us the New Jerusalem along with tangible, generous compensation.
In Matthew 19 we meet a guy who seemingly had everything everything that is, except the assurance that he was right with God. High standards, good morals, money, success and all the other earthly rewards of his hard work still left the young man in Matthew 19 wanting to know if he was accepted by God. He needed to know for sure if he would spend eternity in a place of God’s blessing or if he would somehow end up in a place of divine punishment. Jesus had a lot to say to this guy. Much of which may come as a surprise, especially if we are bold enough to take a good hard look at ourselves in the process.
