God wants us to move forward in the Christian life, living less like we used to and more like Jesus. While we may all have a long way to go, God would have us make daily progress in this process the Bible calls “sanctification.” The challenge is that much of this process is counterintuitive. Mere human effort won’t cut it. We must have the moment-by-moment involvement and empowerment of God’s Spirit.
