Pastor Mike answers the question: What is the Universal Church?

When I think of the Universal Church I think of the churches that believe in Universal Salvation which 2 of my friends believe even though they are both Mennonites and go to Mennonite Churches.
I have a serious problem with this idea of universal salvation because if true then for those who believe this, why did Jesus even have to die and be resurrected in the first place. The other problem with this is that there is nothing biblical about this belief. In fact with the True Word of God we are clearly told that we have only one choice that needs to be made on this side of physical death. Once this vessel dies there is no second chance. The only second chance is for those left behind after the rapture. But once you are physically dead, whatever decision you made that is it and you will be judged based on that decision.
Thank you Ed. I understand why that may be confusing. The Universal Church would just refer to all Christ followers everywhere. This would be in contradistinction to the Local Church where there is a gathering of local believers, in person for worship, teaching and fellowship. Universal Salvation is not related to this, but I understand how it can lead from one thought to the other. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). It couldn’t be any clearer.
