The world lives by a set of unwritten rules and expectations. Christians are called to live according to God’s word. If we are boldly resolved to follow Christ our lives will inevitably have to fight our culture’s norms. We will be forced to buck the expectations of our world and live as countercultural Christians. Hebrews 13 helps us identify the challenges and encourages us to stand firm on the commitments that make God’s people a distinctive light in a dark world.

Sacrifice Instead of Selfishness

God has called us to buck our culture’s propensity for self-interest and self-promotion and intentionally care for fellow Christians with a sacrificial and empathetic love.

Contentment Instead of Materialism

Purity Instead of Promiscuity

Deference Instead of Autonomy
