Are You Ready?
There are times we realize life is short. We recognize that middle age or old age has arrived without our permission. Or perhaps we open the Bible and are reminded that no matter our stage of life, tomorrow is not promised or guaranteed. Instead we are told that our transient existence on this earth is like a mist, a vapor, a temporary loan from God, which can be revoked at any time. And add to that God’s word tells us that the entire focal point of redemptive history is the any-moment return of Christ, the establishment of his kingdom and the consummation of the ages.
Today might be our last. This could be our final hour. These are more than thought-provoking slogans, these are truthful assessments of the reality in which we live. So, are you living this day with eternity in view? Is there unfinished spiritual business that needs your attention? Are you ready to meet your Savior face-to-face? Are all of your plans made in light of the fact that tomorrow we might be in the presence of our King?

I hit “enter” before I finished my thought…happens a lot. Routines, husband, kids, job…the list can go on and on. Some days I find my only focus is watching the clock and cannot wait for bed time. Now that is a far cry from my younger days. Focus of eternity, the coming of Christ, and tomorrow is never promised. How different life would be if we all lived with eternity in our minds. Living our last day as if tomorrow will not come. Great reminder to pull us back from the routine and correct our…well, my focus back to the most important thing!
