How God Wants Us to Think Differently About Ourselves
God expects us to be different than the rest of the world; and that distinction begins with how we think about ourselves.
Verse by verse exposition of the book of 1 Corinthians
God expects us to be different than the rest of the world; and that distinction begins with how we think about ourselves.
God has called us to be like him because he has set us apart for himself.
See your problems in light of God’s generous grace, allowing that perspective to make you truly optimistic as you seek to change them.
No matter what we do, we cannot earn God’s grace; we must gratefully receive what Christ has done to earn God’s grace for us!
We can trust God to come through for us in every aspect of life, because his grace freely supplies for all of our daily needs – not just our eternal ones.
Because of God’s guaranteed grace toward his children we can confidently anticipate that we’ll arrive safely at our future home.
It is of vital importance to our personal and corporate spiritual health that we work at relating to each other as loving siblings, resolved to agree.
We must vigilantly guard our unity by being ruthless about the symptoms of selfishness that seduce us to divide.
If we are to maintain the unity God calls us to we must understand our permanent bond, keeping earthly heroes in perspective as we together exalt Christ.
We must gladly stand firm against any opposition that may come because we confidently believe what God has said.
God has not called us to be religious existentialists or analytical philosophers, but rather faithful followers of Christ who explicitly trust his solutions & directions for our lives!
We dare not give into the temptation of repackaging the truth into a more palatable form when presenting the wisdom of the gospel to people who seem to not be getting it.
We must be focused on acquiring wisdom for life from God’s words and reliant upon his Spirit to appropriate it!
When we are being used to make a difference for Christ we must be mindful that it is all about him and not about us.
We must let the frequent thought of our future judgment effect the quality and quantity of effort we expend to make a difference in people’s lives for Christ.
The teacher and the pupil must maintain a God-centered perspective when God has graciously granted us spiritual growth.
We must count the high cost of helping people pursue Christ and be willing to pay it – for god’s sake and their good.
Though costly, we ought to rejoice that making a difference in people’s live for Christ has such gratifying present benefits.
We must stay intimately in sync with a holy God so that we never become comfortable with sin.
We must care enough about God’s holiness and the church’s health to risk the relationship and lovingly exclude unrepentant church-goers.
Being unholy should be considered a non-option for us! Too much of the past, present & future is riding on the moral decision we make this week!
We must purposefully remain in the world while being vigilant to keep worldliness out of the church.
God thinks the things we usually fight over are not worth the trouble? It’s time we adopt his perspective!
In light of our present resources and our future responsibilities we ought to be able to wisely resolve any dispute that comes our way.
Ditch arguing, the chronic variety is a symptom of an unregenerate heart!
Because God has made (and will remake) our bodies it is incumbent upon to treat them with respect.
God did not design the glue of sex to be used indiscriminately. You must remember you are already bonded to Christ and your spouse.
A Holy God owns our bodies an so we should live in them with Him continually in mind.
